The enduring night of this realm…

Welcome to Level 9.2, wanderer.

Description:

Prior to the incident

Not very long ago, this realm, which has been classified as Level 9.2, was a safe place to reside in.
In direct similarity with Level 9, it once resembled an infinitely-sized stretch of landmass dominated by empty fields and a never-ending daytime, which bathed the landscape with constant warm sunlight.

This never-ending daytime would prevent any plants from growing, as they would quickly perish under the unforgiving sun, decayed by the constant exposure to sunlight.
With such, the landscape was nothing short of burnt grass and a few small bushes, which resembled a wasteland-like environment, albeit being peaceful to traverse in, as the level was devoid of entities at the time.

two

The empty fields of old 9.2…

While exploring, many wanderers would come across random structures, seemingly placed at random throughout the fields, and presumably being made by other wanderers, although never with any probable reason for such.

These structures would vary greatly from weirdly shaped houses, barely being able to house a single wanderer, to random staircases which lead to nowhere. Chairs could also be found, placed at random in the open fields, together with wood spikes fixed to the ground, arrayed in circles.

three

It never ends…

Even though such structures appeared to be human creations, as previously mentioned, there is not explanation as to why they existed.
All structures appear to be made of rough, unpolished materials which can be found all across the Level, such as drywood and sticks, burnt leaves and grass, which were then worked together to create the aforementioned structures.

It is then theorized that the sub-layer resembled Level 11 in many ways. Most likely a wild-west styled settlement, comprising of a few outposts and communities.
Wanderers would have to create many structures to protect themselves from the heat, as well as establishing a way of gathering supplies.

Rivers are present all throughout the level, and contain Almond Water, which was safely transported to sheltered reservoirs inside the settlements, safe from the constant sunlight.

Further research has revealed the presence of humanoid life forms all across the Level, with more signs of a previous presence of humans being more clear around the structures.

four

It must end at one point, right…?

Although the level was devoid of entities and was mostly safe, apart from the raging sun, it was also very scarce in terms of natural resources, and lacked any other valuable object or supplies, aside from the aforementioned rivers of Almond Water.

Wanderers that lived here were presumably unable to leave the Level, thus being forced to create settlements and adapt to the harsh conditions.

Staying in the sub-layer for too long would always result in death, as the wanderer would quickly dehydrate and die within a few hours or days.

The constant sunlight and presumed effects of the anomalous environment made the dehydration process act much more quickly on wanderers, so finding Almond Water was a must for anyone.

five

Something is very wrong…

Given that the Level was entirely dry and bathed by the never-ending sunlight. Although existent, these Almond Water rivers were extremely scarce, as the sun would evaporate most within hours.
Only those rivers who were hidden behind hills or the mountains they originated from were safe and contained Almond Water.

Due to the close resemblance to Level 10, it was initially thought that Level 9.2 was in fact a sub-layer of Level 10, and not Level 9.
But after countless surveys conducted by multiple M.E.G. surveying parties, it was discovered that Level 9.2 is physically connected to Level 9, and that it cannot access nor be accessed from Level 10.

However, due to an unknown catastrophic event, the entirety of the sub-layer changed from the aforementioned constant daylight, to a never-ending night-time, with the only natural lighting coming from the moon present in the sky.

Description:

After the incident

seven

The snow now dominates the landscape…

A catastrophic event, of which the cause is still unknown, caused the entire sub-layer to flip it's daylight cycle, now dominated by a constant night-time, in contrast with the previous everlasting sunlight.

The night would now endure, engulfing the landscape in darkness and thick fog, with no stars in the sky to be seen, and only a small moon to light up the lonely scene.

During this sudden switch, an unknown pathogen, presumably a mutated strain of Entity 19 found its way to the level by unknown ways, killing most of the wanderers present in the Level at the time and severely disrupting the ecosystem, and contaminating the Almond Water rivers.

eight

It got terribly dark in here…

For convenience, this disease has been nicknamed 9.2-V (9.2-Virus), and it is highly contagious and lethal. Thus, the sub-layer, shortly after suffering from the catastrophic event, became a deadzone, completely unfit for life.

It is theorized that 9.2-V is a mutated strain of the Disease, however far deadlier and more contagious.

No pathogens have been found outside of Level 9.2, and there are no plans in studying this disease, as a preemptive measure to prevent any risk of a wide-spread epidemic across M.E.G. teams and outposts.

Due to all these changes on the environment and ecosystem of Level 9.2, the Level has been deemed too risky to be worth any effort and supplies.
Research and surveying has, therefore, been relatively slow, and mostly conducted by small teams of volunteers from the M.E.G., with special training and specialized equipment made fit for the situation.

The two teams which conduct all primary research and survey of Level 9.2 are "Bravo" and "Antares", which are responsible for the documentation of the Level and the protection of any wanderers who reside in it.

nine

And all hope broke loose…

Due to the changes to the environment, the temperatures have dropped significantly, which has allowed for more rivers and lakes to appear.
Plants can also be found nearby these rivers and lakes, and feed on the almond water present in them, thus not requiring any sunlight whatsoever.

With such, all fauna1 and flora present in Level 9.2 is now supported solely by the presence of these Almond Water reservoirs, which were much less common before, due to the constant sunlight which would evaporate any liquids on the ground, and prevent the expansion of any species, thus halting their survival.

The huge temperature drop has allowed rain to appear, albeit rarely, as snow has become more common, together with giant, severe blizzards, which affect areas as big as a continent.

Most of the sub-layer is now, consequently, covered in thick layers of snow, as the landscape falls short of a snowy wasteland, being nothing but a large stretch of land with no significant landmarks, apart for a few mountains, hills, and the aforementioned rivers, lakes and man-made structures.

Entities:

Due to the nature of the level, surveying is almost impossible without expensive, fragile equipment. Reserved only to a few qualified personnel of the M.E.G.

With such, the thought that the Level is devoid of entities remains intact. But due to the recent changes, it is suspected that an anomalous entity is in fact behind all these events.

Bases, Outposts, and Communities:

Due to the nature of the Level, it is impossible to establish any sort of settlement within its boundaries. Only a few settlements are present in the Level, but none are permanent.

Entrances And Exits:

Entrances

To enter Level 9.2, simply walk towards any open field area in Level 9 until the sky flashes a bright color and your surroundings fill with layers of snow.

Exits

There is no known exit as of now. It is theorized that by walking for long enough will lead you back to Level 9 due to the physical connection between the levels.

Level 9.2 - Field Research Team "Bravo"

This place is much more different from what it used to be. It is as if depression also affects levels, haha…

Based on our most recent surveys it is safe to assume that some higher entity has caused this mayhem, and for that, together with the environmental hazards and anomalous/nocive entities present all around this vicinity, we have set warnings for any wanderers exploring Level 9.

There are no known exits, we live here now, and hardly do we. We won't be alive for much longer if these conditions remain, but we're hoping we can find a nearby river and get that precious thing.

Anyways… You probably wanted a more detailed report. Sadly, given our circumstances and available equipment, we are unable to conduct any serious research of any fauna or flora, or even the air condition and soil quality, if that is even important.

Some independent wanderers have come to us with some weird claims of there being a "floating, luminous circle with giant strings of fire attached to it", which would try to attack these wanderers.

We are yet to witness this claim.

Many other independent wanderers have reported suffering from radiation poisoning, and we are currently checking the radiation levels of the sub-layer. For now, it all seems normal, although we are indeed picking up levels of the traditional close to a lethal dosage on the way north from our base.

We'll keep you updated, Base-Alpha.
