The enduring night of this realm…
Welcome to Level 9.2, wanderer.
Description:
Prior to the incident
Not very long ago, this realm, which has been classified as Level 9.2, was a safe place to reside in.
In direct similarity with Level 9, it once resembled an infinitely-sized stretch of landmass dominated by empty fields and a never-ending daytime, which bathed the landscape with constant warm sunlight.
This never-ending daytime would prevent any plants from growing, as they would quickly perish under the unforgiving sun, decayed by the constant exposure to sunlight.
With such, the landscape was nothing short of burnt grass and a few small bushes, which resembled a wasteland-like environment, albeit being peaceful to traverse in, as the level was devoid of entities at the time.
The empty fields of old 9.2…
While exploring, many wanderers would come across random structures, seemingly placed at random throughout the fields, and presumably being made by other wanderers, although never with any probable reason for such.
These structures would vary greatly from weirdly shaped houses, barely being able to house a single wanderer, to random staircases which lead to nowhere. Chairs could also be found, placed at random in the open fields, together with wood spikes fixed to the ground, arrayed in circles.
Even though such structures appeared to be human creations, as previously mentioned, there is not explanation as to why they existed.
All structures appear to be made of rough, unpolished materials which can be found all across the Level, such as drywood and sticks, burnt leaves and grass, which were then worked together to create the aforementioned structures.
It is then theorized that the sub-layer resembled Level 11 in many ways. Most likely a wild-west styled settlement, comprising of a few outposts and communities.
Wanderers would have to create many structures to protect themselves from the heat, as well as establishing a way of gathering supplies.
Rivers are present all throughout the level, and contain Almond Water, which was safely transported to sheltered reservoirs inside the settlements, safe from the constant sunlight.
Further research has revealed the presence of humanoid life forms all across the Level, with more signs of a previous presence of humans being more clear around the structures.
It must end at one point, right…?
Although the level was devoid of entities and was mostly safe, apart from the raging sun, it was also very scarce in terms of natural resources, and lacked any other valuable object or supplies, aside from the aforementioned rivers of Almond Water.
Wanderers that lived here were presumably unable to leave the Level, thus being forced to create settlements and adapt to the harsh conditions.
Staying in the sub-layer for too long would always result in death, as the wanderer would quickly dehydrate and die within a few hours or days.
The constant sunlight and presumed effects of the anomalous environment made the dehydration process act much more quickly on wanderers, so finding Almond Water was a must for anyone.
Given that the Level was entirely dry and bathed by the never-ending sunlight. Although existent, these Almond Water rivers were extremely scarce, as the sun would evaporate most within hours.
Only those rivers who were hidden behind hills or the mountains they originated from were safe and contained Almond Water.
Due to the close resemblance to Level 10, it was initially thought that Level 9.2 was in fact a sub-layer of Level 10, and not Level 9.
But after countless surveys conducted by multiple M.E.G. surveying parties, it was discovered that Level 9.2 is physically connected to Level 9, and that it cannot access nor be accessed from Level 10.
However, due to an unknown catastrophic event, the entirety of the sub-layer changed from the aforementioned constant daylight, to a never-ending night-time, with the only natural lighting coming from the moon present in the sky.
RECOVERY LOG A
- An unknown wanderer
Oh my… something really isn't right…
I can just… sense it…
It is terribly hard to breathe in here… a strong shade of yellow has dominated the landscape, together with some… weird… thick, suffocating yellow fog… It also smells terribly bad…
I am not sure what to expect from this place anymore…
I had been promised a safe environment by some weird entity… I guess I should not trust strangers at all…
Please, someone save me… For I will not survive much longer on my own…

Description:
After the incident
The snow now dominates the landscape…
A catastrophic event, of which the cause is still unknown, caused the entire sub-layer to flip it's daylight cycle, now dominated by a constant night-time, in contrast with the previous everlasting sunlight.
The night would now endure, engulfing the landscape in darkness and thick fog, with no stars in the sky to be seen, and only a small moon to light up the lonely scene.
During this sudden switch, an unknown pathogen, presumably a mutated strain of Entity 19 found its way to the level by unknown ways, killing most of the wanderers present in the Level at the time and severely disrupting the ecosystem, and contaminating the Almond Water rivers.
It got terribly dark in here…
For convenience, this disease has been nicknamed 9.2-V (9.2-Virus), and it is highly contagious and lethal. Thus, the sub-layer, shortly after suffering from the catastrophic event, became a deadzone, completely unfit for life.
It is theorized that 9.2-V is a mutated strain of the Disease, however far deadlier and more contagious.
No pathogens have been found outside of Level 9.2, and there are no plans in studying this disease, as a preemptive measure to prevent any risk of a wide-spread epidemic across M.E.G. teams and outposts.
Due to all these changes on the environment and ecosystem of Level 9.2, the Level has been deemed too risky to be worth any effort and supplies.
Research and surveying has, therefore, been relatively slow, and mostly conducted by small teams of volunteers from the M.E.G., with special training and specialized equipment made fit for the situation.
The two teams which conduct all primary research and survey of Level 9.2 are "Bravo" and "Antares", which are responsible for the documentation of the Level and the protection of any wanderers who reside in it.
And all hope broke loose…
Due to the changes to the environment, the temperatures have dropped significantly, which has allowed for more rivers and lakes to appear.
Plants can also be found nearby these rivers and lakes, and feed on the almond water present in them, thus not requiring any sunlight whatsoever.
With such, all fauna and flora present in Level 9.2 is now supported solely by the presence of these Almond Water reservoirs, which were much less common before, due to the constant sunlight which would evaporate any liquids on the ground, and prevent the expansion of any species, thus halting their survival.
The huge temperature drop has allowed rain to appear, albeit rarely, as snow has become more common, together with giant, severe blizzards, which affect areas as big as a continent.
Most of the sub-layer is now, consequently, covered in thick layers of snow, as the landscape falls short of a snowy wasteland, being nothing but a large stretch of land with no significant landmarks, apart for a few mountains, hills, and the aforementioned rivers, lakes and man-made structures.
I'm not safe here anymore, am I…
Upon further surveys conducted by teams "Bravo" and "Antares", a lone volcano has been found in the sub-layer, dominated by a thick fog of sulfur, and vast lakes of lava which does not seem to ever solidify.
Around this volcano, reality appears to not act the same as outside of it, i.e., a daylight cycle is present within its vicinity, and wildlife is abundant, much in contrast with the rest of Level 9.2, nevermind the high temperatures around the volcano which reach lethal levels.
Most of the wildlife present within the volcano has been seen in Level 9.2 and appears to not have suffered from the sudden change of the environment, as it is thought that the volcano was the only part of the Level which did not suffer the catastrophic event.
The high levels of sulfur come from the volcano itself, which produces an anomalous amount of the substance and launches it high in the air, poisoning the vicinity, albeit for some areas which are safe to reside in, and contain most of the wildlife present around the volcano.
Almond Water is present in underground reservoirs. However, it is extremely hot due to the volcanic activity underground, thus being unsafe for consumption.
Most of the wildlife relies on the nearby reservoirs which sit just close enough to the volcano not to be affected by it's activity, still remaining inside it's zone of effect (ZoE).
This ZoE surrounds all of the volcano as is classified as a dangerous zone to traverse.
Inside the ZoE, all anomalous effects take place, which, as mentioned before, consist of the presence of a daylight cycle, and the anomalous quantities of sulfur.
Team "Bravo" is in charge of maintaining this zone free of any wanderers, and instructing the same to a safer area, usually outposts controlled by other wanderers, and maintained by M.E.G. volunteers.
Entities:
Due to the nature of the level, surveying is almost impossible without expensive, fragile equipment. Reserved only to a few qualified personnel of the M.E.G.
With such, the thought that the Level is devoid of entities remains intact. But due to the recent changes, it is suspected that an anomalous entity is in fact behind all these events.
Bases, Outposts, and Communities:
Due to the nature of the Level, it is impossible to establish any sort of settlement within its boundaries. Only a few settlements are present in the Level, but none are permanent.
Entrances And Exits:
Entrances
To enter Level 9.2, simply walk towards any open field area in Level 9 until the sky flashes a bright color and your surroundings fill with layers of snow.
Exits
There is no known exit as of now. It is theorized that by walking for long enough will lead you back to Level 9 due to the physical connection between the levels.

Level 9.2 - Field Research Team "Bravo"
This place is much more different from what it used to be. It is as if depression also affects levels, haha…
Based on our most recent surveys it is safe to assume that some higher entity has caused this mayhem, and for that, together with the environmental hazards and anomalous/nocive entities present all around this vicinity, we have set warnings for any wanderers exploring Level 9.
There are no known exits, we live here now, and hardly do we. We won't be alive for much longer if these conditions remain, but we're hoping we can find a nearby river and get that precious thing.
Anyways… You probably wanted a more detailed report. Sadly, given our circumstances and available equipment, we are unable to conduct any serious research of any fauna or flora, or even the air condition and soil quality, if that is even important.
Some independent wanderers have come to us with some weird claims of there being a "floating, luminous circle with giant strings of fire attached to it", which would try to attack these wanderers.
We are yet to witness this claim.
Many other independent wanderers have reported suffering from radiation poisoning, and we are currently checking the radiation levels of the sub-layer. For now, it all seems normal, although we are indeed picking up levels of the traditional close to a lethal dosage on the way north from our base.
We'll keep you updated, Base-Alpha.

M.E.G. SURVEYING PARTY
Level 9.2 - Field Research Team "Antares"
Following the research of Team Bravo, we have decided to conduct further analysis on the strange, mutated version of the Disease, as well as monitor the levels of radiation around our zone of exclusion.
Yeah, we mounted an exclusion zone around our bases. We're experimenting with newly created machines to purify the air and make a section of 9.2 fits for life.
So far it seems everything is going well, and we should be able to create a living space for any wanderers by the end of this year.
Anyways, this new disease… right. So it appears to be a mutated string of Entity 19, in a way that it is severely more dangerous, as well as more contagious. Its symptoms are still not well known, but we're safe from any contamination across levels, as we do not know of any exits yet, and any infected wanderer will most likely die before leaving anyways.
We could work on a vaccine of some sort, but it would take a lot of time and resources. And we have neither of those.
As for those weird claims from multiple wanderers. They all died, from unknown causes. They didn't die from this new disease, and they had no visible marks of any aggression or attack from any entities.
They also did not die from radiation poisoning. However, we decided to submit one of the deceased wanderers for further analysis, and we found multiple instances of a strange material inside the wanderer's lungs.
It is a yellowish, hard substance but not exactly very reflective. Almost as a block of sulfur.
This material does not fall into any known element in the periodic table and its properties are still unknown. We have, although, noticed that it glows in the dark and appears to grow under the presence of sulfur.
It grows in a weird, string-like shape with apparent spikes growing from it. They are not very sharp but they emit some weird particles…
We suspect that this is the material behind the death of those innocent wanderers.
Such would also confirm their reports of a circle-like entity with strings attached to it. "Bravo" has been notified of this and is now surveying the local volcano.
Goodluck to them.

Operator 1: God… This place is a complete nightmare, I can't see shit…
Operator 2: Stick to the plan. We're only surveying this weird volcano, and then we'll be back to our barracks as soon as possible.
Operator 3: Radiation levels are rising… Be careful.
[Momentarily silence]
Operator 1: Antares, do you copy?
Operator 2: The hell are you trying to communicate to Antares?
Operator 1: The rising radiation levels?
Operator 2: Welcome to this fucking level? It is so inconsistent, it's with a reason that we… you know, live in barracks, away from any radiation dumps!
Operator 1: They're not even answering.
Operator 2: You're probably just in the wrong frequency again… Antares, do you copy?
[Static]
Operator 3: Hey my comms are not working anymore, it is all offline.
Operator 4: Same here, all frequencies are down.
Operator 2: Everyone! Stop.
[Silence]
Operator 2: (Whispering) Something's onto us…
Operator 1: (Whispering) Well, what do we do!?
Operator 2: (Whispering) Just wait here…
[Momentary Silence]
[Suddenly, the weird entity closes in on them and expands its strings all over their surroundings.]
Operator 1: What the fuck is that!?
Operator 2: ANTARES, it is fucking true that this thing exists. ANTARES!?
Operator 1: BEHIND YOU! ARE YOU FUCKING BLIN-
[Operator 2 gets impaled by the strings.]
Operator 3: Oh no… Everyone! Fall back!
[Operator 3 tries to get everyone to fall back to a safer position, but is grabbed by one of the strings which wrap around his feet and slings him up and down harshly against the ground.]
Operator 1: Okay… Okay… Keep calm. Let's go, LET'S FUCKING GO.
[Operator 1 then tries to shoot dead the entity, which only infuriates it and causes him to be killed immediately after engaging it.]
[The entity then surrounds Operator 4, the only one remaining.]
Operator 4: W-what do you want from me!?
Operator 4: You're not getting me this easily! FUCK YOU!
[Explosion]

Level 9.2 - Field Research Team "Antares"
Bravo is fucking dead…
Alright listen… Our comms went dead as soon as we tried to survey whatever that thing was.
We're currently doing our best to find a way out of here. 9.2 is NOT safe. 9.2 is NOT worth any risks.
There is nothing here that is valuable to our survival, there is nothing here that will aid us in this hell. This is nothing but a trap for any innocent wanderers trying to escape that nightmare.
There is nothing we can do anymore…
Someone… please save us.
We found a tunnel…
And we're going in…
Some realms are simply not worth your time, wanderer.
Isn't it funny how unprepared humans are for sudden events?
…How unfamiliar they are with sudden changes to what surrounds them.
This article is nothing short of that… A little reminder that you are not prepared for the inevitable.
And you never will be.
After all, you do not defy change.
You cannot change it.
You can only embrace it.
Embrace the darkness with me.
And we shall see the lights once again.
In this lonely world dominated by quiet things.
It is time to show that sudden is the way to go.
And the way that you aren't ready to witness.
I'm coming for all of you.
One at a time.
Take… what it may take.
This was only the beginning.
And I hope it was a good surprise.
